Review: Scuddles Pickleball Paddle Set

Hey Pickle People here’s another review!

Today I am reviewing the Scuddles Pickleball Paddle Set! I really liked the look of this paddle, so I decided to go out and purchase it to see what it was like. This set was also interesting because it comes with a book and I wanted to see what the book was about. This set is not too price at under $65 and it comes with 2 paddles, 6 balls and a book.

Anyway, now into the review!

Power: 7/10

Like many of the other beginner paddles out there, this paddle is solid in the power category. The polypropylene core with the graphite face feels solid and when hitting from the back, the power feels there. After using it for a little while I was able to keep pace with the more expensive paddles on the court, and was able to get some pop from just about everywhere.

Control: 6/10

I actually think this paddle has so pretty decent control both at the front and the back of the court. I was hitting most of my shots on target and on the sweetspot. I usually notice when the ball is not coming off the paddle in the right orientation, but when using this paddle I was able to hit the ball where I wanted it to go 95% of the time.

Forgiveness: 6/10

The forgiveness on this paddle gets about the same score as most of the other entry level paddles. The core is just pretty hard and some of the hard hit balls will get away from you at the front of the net. Although this can be an issue sometimes, once you are able to calibrate to who you are playing against it should be no problem.

Overall: 20/30

  • Overall Solid Paddle

  • Great Control

  • Amazing Deal

I had a great time playing with this paddle. This is a great paddle to just get out and play. I really love the vibrant design and personality of the paddle. One thing I do notice about bright paddles, is your opponent tends to hit it at your paddle more. this makes hitting shots back much easier. That may not be a true pickleball strategy, but it is something I noticed when using this paddle. I really like the overall power and control and the book is a good read for beginners. I would recommend watching videos online to really understand positioning and shot selection, but the book does a good job at explaining the basics.

As for the balls, they are very average ball’s but they get the job done. They make great back up balls if you need them and so far have been playable in our most recent games.
