Review: JP WinLook Pickleball Paddle Set

Hey Pickle People heres another review!

I’m back and I have heard from many of you that you want to see some reviews on some more affordable and entry level paddles. Look no further! I went out to purchase the JP WinLook Pickleball Paddle Set and here is my honest review of the set as a whole.

I hope you all are doing ok during the pandemic and I hope you all are being safe and still having fun!

Power: 6/10

This paddle is very predictable in the way it hits with maybe a little sacrifice on the power. The paddle a little on the lighter side of the entry level paddles and although it does provide a bit more on the maneuverability, I do feel like there is a slight decrease, in the amount of pop the paddle has. I have always liked graphite faced paddles and it does have a good feel when you hit the sweetspot. You all know how I feel about the thick face guards and although I don’t love the thicker rim, it still feels like there is a sizable sweetspot and I am not always hitting on the edges. Don’t get me wrong you can still hit put away shots, but the pop is not as substantial as others at this price point.

Control: 7/10

The overall maneuverability of this paddle is quite nice and it is pretty easy to swing and bring the paddle into the optimal positions, whether it be at the net, or from the back of the court. The overall ball control as the ball comes off the paddle is nothing extraordinary, but is consistent if you make good contact with the ball. Overall I was quite pleased with feel and felt good swinging the paddle around once I got used to the form factor.

Forgiveness: 7/10

In terms of forgiveness, the paddle is rather predictable, when hit in the right area. I feel like the “hit in the right area” is a little tricky. Its not that the paddle has a small sweetspot, but it does have a smaller sweetspot that some of the higher tier paddles. I personally would pay more for a paddle with a larger sweetspot, but for this price point this paddle offers everything it can in terms of forgiveness.

Overall: 20/30

  • Overall Solid Paddle

  • Easy to pick up and play

  • Average control

To me this is one of the best pick up and play paddles out there. This would make a great paddle to bring out and let your friends use if there are getting into the sport. I would only recommend this paddle to beginner players because it is a great deal for the price and seems like it can last a while. If you keep playing pickleball (which you should!) I would eventually upgrade to a higher tier paddle but this is great to keep this around as a back up paddle.

As for the balls, they are very average ball’s but they get the job done. They make great back up balls if you need them and so far have been playable in our most recent games.
