Review: GRM Pickleball Paddle Set

Hey Pickle People heres another review!

I’m back and I have heard from many of you that you want to see some reviews on some more affordable and entry level paddles. Look no further! I went out to purchase the GRM Pickleball Paddle Set and here is my honest review of the set as a whole. I know I haven’t been posting as much recently, but I hope to get back into the game more now that I have more time.

Anyway, now into the review!

Power: 7/10

Overall this is a solid power paddle. Like many of the more budget paddles this paddle has a polymer core that almost feels like Nomex. For those of you who don’t know exactly what Nomex is, the basics is that it is a very hard polymer material that really makes the ball “pop” off the paddle and really brings the power from anywhere on the court. I had a lot of fun with this paddle and was very happy with the power it provided.

Control: 6/10

For an entry level paddle I was very pleased with the control of this paddle. As with most entry level paddles the sweetspot for the paddle is not as large as I want it to be, but when you hit in the middle of the paddle the ball goes exactly where I want it to every time. Due to the core of the paddle, controlling fast balls at the net make create some problems, but nothing too bad that you can’t handle.

Forgiveness: 7/10

I felt this paddle was actually more forgiving than most of the other paddles that I have used at this price point. Keep in mind this set comes in around $60 which means $30 per paddle. I was able to place my shots and keep up with my friends who were using $100+ paddles no problem. Some balls will get away from you and this is usually the case with more entry level paddles.

Overall: 20/30

  • Great value

  • Can be used by beginner or intermediate

  • All around great

I really like the paddle set and it is always great to see new entry level options for people to get out there and play. I have no big red flags from this paddle and it is a really nice paddle for all around play for both beginners and intermediates. I like the design in that it is not too flashy and very sleek. Face material will not give you any extra control, but will not hinder your game either. I felt the handle was comfortable and that I could play for hours with this paddle and have lots of fun.

As for the balls, they are very average ball’s but they get the job done. They make great back up balls if you need them and so far have been playable in our most recent games.
